The Onewhero Tragedy.
[ro THE EDITOR.! Sir,—l cau scarcely agree .with your Tuakau correspondent of February 1 Gtli when lie wiites " that it was sin prising " the Tuakau settlers and commercial men should leave their work uud turn out to help in the search at Pongauui road. This is an injustice, as they are always ready to leave their work, especially on a Saturday. But what is not surprising or recorded is that Messrs Both wide and Duuglas Baker, Charles Walter and Alf Oobourne turned out, and on them fell the brunt of all tho serious search, not only on Saturday but for tlireo days previously.—l am, etc., " ONLOOKER." Wairamarama. | "Onlooker" has misinterpreted the sense of the paragraph he criticisos. What tho writer of the same intended was to refer appreciaungly to the ready manner in which the local residents turned out and assisted the police authorities. — ! Editor. ]
