"Wake Up, Papakura!"
!T0 THE EDITOK.I Sir,—The chairman of the Papakura Town Board agrees with me that an earthquake is necessary to wake up the residents of Papakura. That being so, I hope we will, between us, be able to engineer tho 'quake, I would like to assure tha chairman that I am not one of the "growlers," also that I am qualified to use the nom-de-plnmo " Papakura."
I must accept the chairman's statement re the Hunua Falls, but in regard to the Reserve I maintain that a deputation to Sir Joseph Ward four or five years ago has no connection with the complaint 1 made. 1 would like, with your permission, to ask the chairman whether a representative deputation has waited on the present Minister for Railways re the workshops question since Mr Hiley's appointment.' May I also mention thftt my statement re brick shops referred to " certain vacant land in the heart of the town." Thet. local agent had no au'hority to deal with the number of suitable sites referred to by the chairman. Mr Willis evidently mistook my statement for a thrust at his firm. Believe me, Sir, I have no iuteutioa of hurting anyone's feelings per the cover of a nom-de-plume.—l am, etc, " PAPAKURA." ♦
