The heavy rain which feil on Sunday night last had gladdened the hearts of the local farmers. Its advent was most welcome, and its beneficial effects are already most marked everywhere. Magistrate: "What excuse have you for being so disgracefully drunk yesterday?" Prisoner: "You see, your worship, a doctor told me I waa going to have the influena, so 1 " Magistrate (interrupting l : "Oh! That's the old story! You tried to cure it, eh?" Prisoner: "No, your worship! I tried to have one more good time befo e 1 was laid up."
