DRURY.

PUBLIC HALL. On Friday eveninjr, the 30th ult., the extension to the Diury public hall was officially opened. Although the weather was anything but favourable there was an excellent attendance at iha concert and dance held in honour of the occasion.

Mr JOB. Flanagan, who took a prominent part in the erection of the ball soma thirty years ago, preided, and in the course of a short address outlined its history. He referred' to tbe strenuous and successful efforts of the settlers in those earlier days—when money was not always as plentiful as in these times of substantial creamery cheques—to build the hall and have it free of debt, and he congratulated tbe young people upon their successful efforts in providing additional accommodation without debt. Some 25 feet of space bas been added and a new floor provided throughout." The following programme was most creditably rendered:-Piano-forte solo, Mrs Lodge; songs, Miss Quillan, Mr Thompson, Miss Storey, Mr Morgon; ttio, three little girls (Misses Lodge, and Miss R. Robinson); recitation, Mr Mount; song, Miss McNaughton; song, in character, Mr C. Harding; pianoforte solo, MissQuinn; dance, Miss Molly Jakes; song, "Long Way to Tipperary," Miss McQuillan; recitation, Miss D. Harding; pianoforte duet, Misses Thompson; songs, Miss McNaogbton. Mr Codlicott, Miss Storey, Mr C. Hardiog; recitation, Mr Mouot; song, Miss McQuillan. A vote of thanks to the performers was carried cn the motion of Mr Glasson.

RIDING ELECTION. The announcement of Mr Flanagan's re-election unopposed as councillor for the Drury iiding has been received with the utmost satisfaction by the residents of this district. At a meeting of the Drury branch of the Farmers' Union on Monday eveninu a resolution waß unanimously passed congratulating Mr Flanagan upon his success.
