WAIAU PA.
COUNTY ELECTIONS
At Waiau school on Monday evening the residents met in goodly numbers to hear Mr Batty address them on County Council work and duties, and gave him a very favourable hearing. During his address Mr Ba'.ty remarked that on his journey there that afternoon a piece of unopened road, leading from Waiau to Patumahoe, had been pointed out to hirr. and he was surprised that something had not been done ti make this road passable, as it would shorten the distance considerably. He estimated that some £SO or £6O would make it a fairly good summer road, and that if elected to the Council he would use his utmost endeavours to have the road opened this summer. After answering a number ot questions and receiving the thanks of the meeting for his candid and lucid replies, the meeting closed with the usual vote of thanks to the obairman, Mr Learning.
