PAPAKURA.
BIBLE CLASSES.
A Bible class rally under the auspices of Presbyterian Bible Class Union was held on Labour Day in one of Mr E. D. McLennan'n paddocks Over 250 Bible Class members from the city, Clevedon, Drury and Papa kura classes assembled iir ihe morning, when a conference was held, several interesting papers being read. During the afternoon various games were indulged in and the rally was concluded in the evening when Ihe Rev. Joily, of St. Stephens Church, Auckland, gave an fxcellent address. The Methodist Bible Class social was held last week in the Parish hall. Mutical items were rendered during the evening by Misses Murray, Ellis, bycroft and Johnson. Games were indulged in, and prizes for a guessing competition were won by Misses Campbell, Turner and Richardson. Supper was provided by the lady members of the class, which brought a pleasant evening to a close.
IHE GERMAN MENACE. A most interesting lecture was given in the Papakura Parish ball on October 29th by the Rev. W. C. Wood on "The German Menace." The lecturer took bis hearers bpek to the formation of the Prussian Empire in 1700 and up to tha present day, speaking eloquently of such men as Frederick the Great, Prince Bismarck and ths Kaiser. The audience was large and most appreciative. During the evening several songs were well rendered by Messrs McCormick and Piper, of Auckland.
