THE RAILWAY LEAGUE.

Annual Meeting Waiuku Members. The annual meeting of the Waiuku Railway League was held on Monday evening, Mr C. T. Barriball presiding, and about fifteen members present. A financial statement of the turning of the first sod and banquet following was presented, which showed that when all subscriptions were in there would be a clear balance sheet. Expressions of approval were mado by members as to the manner in which the railway was progressing, and it was hoped that a lager sum would appear on the Estimate this year. It was decided to write to the Prime Minister pointing out that the suggested terminus or shunting station nt Pukekohe would be detrimental to the interests of the district, which would be best served by a shunting station at Papakura or Drury. For the position of president Mr Shakspear proposed Mr A. M. Barri ball who, lie said, had been tho chief support in the work that had been done. Mr W. Smith seconded, and the motion was carried. President, Mr A. M. Barriball; vicepresidents, Messrs S. T. Rossiter and H. W. Smith; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. F. Shakspear: committee, Messrs Fenwick, D. Makgill, C. J. West, R. T. Reid, 8. R.
