TnE FARMERS' UNION.

Tho monthly moating of tho Mauku branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was iiold in the Patumahoo Hall on Friday, 7th inst., tho president, Mr W. Finlay, presiding

Mr Henry explained that alterations had been now made which brought tho County by-laws into conformity with tho wishes expressed by tho branch and now tho clauses that pressed unduly on tho farmers lmd boon deleted. Tho regulations regarding traction engines had also been amended and ho thought when tho branch recoivod a copy there would bo no objections.

It was resolved to writo to tho }>rovinciul secretary and enquire fur wliat remuneration the services of a 11ualiiiod veterinary surgoon could be secured for tho Mnuku district.

The following reply was received from the Prime Minister in rosponso to a patriotic resolution passed at a recent mooting " 1 bog to acknowledge tho loceipt of your letter of the 19th inst, forwarding copy of a resolution passed at a meeting of tho Mauku brunch of tho Now Zoalund Fanners' Union. In reply I shall bo glad if you will express to tho members ot your branch tho sincero thanks of tho Government for their patriotic resolution which is deeply appreciated."
