In apologising for the delay in holding the meeting the president said that the first excitement of the war had so unsettled people that it was not much use thinking or anything else. The past year, said M* Crispe had been a remarkable one as far as the railway was concerned for not only bad they seen the turning of the lirst sod but better still work was nctua'ly in progress. On the co operative works a number of men wore employed and the proximity of the line to Auckland made it me re than likely that numbers of unemployed from the city would be given work here He hoped for a speedy finish to their desires which was to see the engine steaming through the district and the trucks goiug back laden with produce. The secretary, Mr W. I inlay, presented the annual balance sheet which showed a credit balance of £ls lis 10s.

Mr Wily then proposed Mr J. Henry. This was secondod by Mr W. Howe and carried unanimonsly with applause. In returning thanks for the honor conferred on him Mr Henry said ho hoped all would work amicably together for tho furtherance of their railway. As the work was, he might say, like the peach trees now in bloom he hoped by next year it would be bearing fruit. Hie following officers were also elected : Vice-presidents., Messrs J. B. Goldsworthy and A. C. Davy; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Finlay; committee, Messrs F. W. Kavanagh, W. G. Fleydell, H. Hay, E. C. Cuff, W. Sonimerville, P. W. Ryburn, S. Rowe, junr., N. G. Kavanagh, to be sent to the Prime Minister : " That the Mauku branch of the Waiuku Railway League respectfully urges our representative, Eight Hon. W. F.
