WAIUKU BUTTER FACTORY
Its Erection Postponed.
The Manager Engaged. During the course of his annual speech Mr Spragg. of the New Zealand Dairy Association, made the following statement:
"Our business on the western side of th2 Lower Waikato ha a increased to such an extent that it is not now as advantageous for us to carry cream from that district rs it would be to manufacture it in the neighbourhood of Waiuku. This developing has bern watched by your director •. A suitable eite has been uecured, plans for the building have been prepared, and Mr Kirkham (previously in charge of our Frarkton Junction factory, and tinco then of Stratford, a butter maker of the highest reputation) has bcuti engaged. We were on the point of calling for terd.rs; indeed, we had already made somy engagements whicli we were fortunately able to postpone, when Ilia European war broke out. Jn the crisis it seemed prudent to vour dire: tors to immediately suspend operations which would have involved the expenditure of bo much money.
