MILL 14 v. MAUKU 3

The senior match between Mauku and Pill on Saturday, on the Pukekohe Domain, proved a very uninteresting nam-. The Hill Lack* were disorganised through the absence of several players (Hill only pi tying 12 men), whilst Mauku, thoußh the h avjer side, lacked form and displayed cu combination. The game was not uneven, but the hill forward* were more nippy, their backs faster and more aggressive and the whole side quicker to take advantage of an opening than their opponents. Mauku were frequently in good positions for attack, but there was lacking the ability to successfully put the finishing touches to a movement A. Bilkey, J. Wilson, Lamont scored tries for the winners, one of which waa convertel. Lamont also kicked a penalty goal. Wright crossed the line for Mauku. J. Wilson waa the best forward on Hill side, and Wilkinson, Lamer t and Bilkey were conspicuous for good individual •vo k in the backs. The Mauku van guard played a solid game and if a little attention he given to training will be a useful pack at the end of the season. Wright ard Tolker wrre possibly the pick of a hard-working division. The backs were poor and did not chow neatly as good form as against City. Both in defence snd attack they were weak. Mr B. 11.
