PIGEON SHOOTING.
With The Live Birds. On Thursday five members of the Pukekohe Gun Club were initiated into the art of chooting with pigeons, at Ellerslie. In a ten-bird match thu cost before pulling a trigger was 27s 6d each. There were 17 competitor*, all on 21 jards. Dr Raynor won with the possible. In their initial effort the Pukekohe representatives did well. Wright got S, S. Fitness 7, Daysh 6 'two others just outside boundary), Blake 3 (ar.d 3 outside boundary), J. Kevnolds 3 3 outside). A six-bird sparrow match, of 16 | yards, 6s 6d entrance, wae also parti-; cipated in. Big guns again took part. Daysh and Fitness 3, Blake ! 2 and Wright 1, were the local records.
AT TtiE CLAYS. There were not bo many as usual | at the Pukekohe grounds on account ; of the race attractions in Auckland. Mr W. Adams' trophy was won by S\ Fitness, who off the 11yds mark killed 8 birds. Other scores were J. Gardner 12yds, A. P. Dayah 14yds, J. Wright 17yds, 7 birds each; W. Wilson 17yds and W. H. Reynolds 10yds, 5 birds each; J. Blake 10yds and D. R. Reynolds 10yds, 4 birds each; J. Faueetl 17yds, 3 birds. A six-bird sweepstake was also carried off by S. Fitness, who off the Hydi mark, killed all his birds. J. 'Jardner, 12yds, took second money with 5 first-barrel kills. Other competitors were J. Fausett 17yds, 5; J. Blake 10yds. 4; J. Wright 17yds, D. R. Reynolds lOydß, W. H. Keynolds 10yds. 3 birds each; W. Wilson 17yds, A. P. Uaysh 14yds, 2 birds each. J. Fauaett won the second sweepstake, all competitors firing: oil the 12yds mark, with 5 first-barrel kills, J. Wright, with 6 birds being second. Other scores were J. Gardner and S. Fitness 5 birds each; ,1. Hlike and W. Wilson i birds each, A. l\ Davsh 3 birds. 'lhc final sweepstake, .'! birds, all competitjra firing off the 12 yards, was won by J. Gardner, who bad to shoot off with W. Wilson and J. Blake, with 2 birds. W. Wilson taking lecond money. ,' Z~' %
