THE FIRE BRIGADE.
Wl arc very pleased tu be able to congratulate the Lyceum picture management upon tlieir generous offer to the Fire Brigade. At tonight's entertainment an especially attractive programme is to bo presented and hull tho gross proceeds are to be handed over to the Fire Brigade. We understand that tho idea is that this money should bo employed for the especial benefit of the brigade members themselves, as a brigade. The manager very properly pays a high compliment to tho services rendered by tho brigadesmen in their official capacity at " tho pictures " and this offer is iu some way a recompense aud a public acknowledgment of the admirable \\ ork done, and to help forward the good offices of the Brigade. It seems to us that thero should bo a good deal more of practical sympathy extended to tho Brigade than is tho case at present. The townspeople will not know, until a conflagration occurs, how much they really do owo to their tiremen.
