AUCKLAND MARKETS.
Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, Victoria and Lome streets, Auckland, reports:—Poultry came forward in haavy supply to a good market, the beßt for some considerable time. There was strong competition for prime hens, ducks and large table roosters. There is still a large quantity of chickens, cockerels and poor hens coming forward which are not well competed for. Pullets are in strong demand. From now on we look for prices to firm. Pigs are in heavy supply to poor demand and prices ruling low. Butter and eggs are steady. Pumpkins and swedes are in steady demand.
The potato market firmed for prime lots. Inferior are not in demand.
Poultry, 1100 penned—Hens, prime 2s to 2s 6d, good Is 9d to Is lid, poor Is 6d to Is 7d; ducks, 2s to 2s 9d; roosters, table, 3s 6d to 4s 7d; cockerels, Is to Is 9d; geese, 3s 6d to 43; turkeys, gobblers 6s 9d to lis 6d, hens 4s 3d to 6s 4d. Pigs, 4s to 8s 9d.
Produce—Potatoes, prime £3 15s to £4 10s, good £3 5s to £3 10s, inferior £2 10s; onions, 6s to 7s 3d; picklers, 8s to 9s 6d; pumpkins, £4 to £4 10s; swedes, £2 to £2 109; cabbages, 2s to 2s 9d sack; marrows, 3s 6d to 4s sack.
Grain—Maize, 3a lOd to 43 4d; wheat, 4s 9d; oats, 2s lOd; bran, £4 10s; sharps, £6 15s; Algerian oats, 3s 7d; chaff, local, £4 10s to £5 10s, ex store.
