P.« PAR ATA CHURCtJ SERVICES. The aniversary services of the Methodut Church, Paparata, were held on Sunday morning and evening, sth Ap-il. Mr Odell, from Auckland, preached both morning and eveniDg to good ongregatiuns. On Monday evening following the annual soiree was held in the church when the building wa9 taxed to its utmost to accommodate all present. After all the good things had been partaken of the after meeting took place, the Rev. E. P. Blamires pre-f-i iinsr. The meeting was op:n?d by the hymn "All Kail the Powei" and prayer by the chairman, after which the following programme was rendered bj the Bombay Methodist choir, under the baton of Mr Burton :-Part song. "Bells of St. Michael's Tower," choir; piano, "Witches Flight," Misses McCowen; recitation, "Not Understood," Mi fi. V. Burton, encored; song, "The Toilers," Mr Best; part song, "The Banks of Allan Water," choir; song. "The Skipper," Mr Burton, encored; cornet solo, "Ih2 Old Cathedral," Mr Ramsay ; recitation, "A Serial Story," Mr Smit\ ercored, vocal duet, "Larboard Watch," Mrs and Mr Burton; part song, "Moonlight Music," choir; recitation, "Telephone Talk," Mr Burton, encored; trio, Don't Look at Me," Mrs Button, Messrs Burton and Beit; part sorg, 'Call John," choir; anthem, "Saviour, Thy Children Keep." Mr Wcrsley moved a hearty -vote ot thanks to all who had assisted in making the soiree a success, which was carried by acclamation. BOMBAY LIBRARY.
The adjourned annual meeting of the subscribers to the Bombay library was held in the library on Monday evening, 6th April, Mr W. K. Cornthwaite in th 3 chair. The report and balance sheet were r£ad hy the chairman. The report showed that 95 new books had been added during the year, making a total cf 1392 volumes now in the library, 951 having been taken out curing the year. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £34 18s 9d. The old committee was re-elected, viz., Messrs W. K Cornthwaite, A. French, G. T. Proude, J. E. C. Evans, and R. J. Corb°tt The committee re-elertejd Mr Cornthwaite to be chairman, secretary and Treasurer and Mr A. French auditor. The chairman reported that he had received the Government subsidy, £7 ss. It was deciied to purchase another lot of new books, and a selection was made from the lists received.
MAUNGATAWHIRI BOARD. The ordinary meeting of the Maurgatawhiri Road Board was held at the Board's office, Razorback, on Satuiday, 4th April. Members present: Messrs J. G. ■Rutherford (chairman), H. Lees, A. J. Coombe, W. H. P. Evans, G. T. Proude, and the clerk, Mr W. K. Cornthwaite.
The clerk reported that the work on the Bluff road, by Messr3 Sellwood and Rossiter, had been completed. \ The following tenders for 2£ inch metal, to be broken, carted, spread anl blinded where shown, were received:—For Whangarata road, 50yds, S. Fitness 10s 6d per yard, only tender, accepted. For Beaver's road, 50yds, same conditions as Whangarata road: A. Craig and G. Roger, 12s per ja:d; Theo Evans, 10s 9d per yard (accepted). Messrs A. Craig and S. Fitness's accounts for earthwork on road were passed fir payment. The clerk was authorised to take the necessary steps for the election of two members and the annual meetiug.
