PUKEKOHE WEST ROAD BOARD.

The April Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Pukekohe West Road Board was held on Wednesday last; present— Messrs A. E. West (in- Ihe chair), T. Woods, A. Finlay, W. Boase, R Pilkington. W. Blake, Puni road, called to ask what consideration the Board would give him in connection with the storm water that was turned on to his place through a drain having been cut across Dazeley's property. He had to pipe a certain drain in order to get the water off. If the Board would give the pipes he would put them in and put up with the water.—There was some doubt as to whether the water when diverted might not get on to Pollock's property. After discussion it was decided that the chairman, Mr Woods and Mr Pilkington inspect the property affected aDd act. W. R. Crook, Mount Eden, who some time ago suggested that the Board should'pay him to prospect a quarry again wrote asking if the Board's offer to pay £2O still remained open. He suggested that if additional money was required perhaps an arrangement might be made with the Council.—The writer was referred to the County Council. Lewis Eyre, of Vale fcarm, Pukekohe, drew attention to the state of the road giving access to his property. He had been paying rates fur three years and had not had one penny in return. Unless something was done the road would be impassable in the winter time. He suggested that his share of the rates should be banded to the County I Council for expenditure on his | ioad.—Deferred until next meeting.

The State-guaranteed Advances Office notified that £IOOO out of trie £IBOO Purapura road had been remitted to the Boad'a account.— This was to pay current work and work in sight. It was decided to hold the election on the first Wednesday in May, the annual meeting to be on the first Monday in May. Mr West is retiring by resignation and Messrs Woods and Finlay by effluxion of time. Mr West was authorised to get some formation work done down by the river at the landing. The Advances Office intimated that the money for the Hill No. 2 loan of £650 was available. (It was thought that this money had lapsed). Attention was drawn to the fact that a minimum rate of H per cent, per

annum had been fixed and the amount of instalment, inclusive of tinking fund, was £5 12s 2d for every £IOO of th.J loan. —A resolution was passed making the required rate.
