LOCAL AND GENERAL.
The Pukekohe Gun Club open the season on Saturday when the Abbott Cup will be competed for. On Wednesday members are requested to meet at the old range at one o'clock to remove the shed and other gear to the new ground. A rumour having gained currency that the member fur Raglan does nut intend to contest the seat at the next general elections, Mr K. F. Bollard., M.P., announces in our advertising columns that he will again be a candidate for the Raglan constituency against all comers.
The following team will represont the Pakekohe Lawu Tenuis Club agaiust Bombay ou Saturday, at Bombay : —Hopkins, Laniont, Corbett, John*, Willis, Maxwell, Holmes, Mesdatnes Bayloy, Motion, Johns, and Misses Bilkey and Coster. Tho match will start at Bombay at_ 2 o'clock.
Mr C. J. Hoskiog's thoroughbred btallion "Master Soult'* not only proved a great success on the turf, but is making a name for himself in the show ring, having gained championships at both Franklin and Cambridge shows against such wellknown show winners as St. Amayns, Bunyan and Royal News.
The Pukckohe branch of tha Farmers' Union are to hold a meeting on Saturday evening, lime and place are advertised. In consideration of the good work that the Union is doing, and in view of the much better work of which it i? capable, it is hoped that all members will attend.
The many friends of Mr and Mrs F. Moulcley, of Puni, will be glad to learn that Mrs MoulJey was able to return from the Auckland hospital to her home on Saturday morning. It will be remembered that Mrs Mouldey was the victim of a eerious vehicular accident some time aao and for several days her life was in grave danger. Her recovery, therefore, is a Bource of general satisfaction.
Constables Wutsou and Moore vesterday arrested u uiau named William Yates at Black's llaxrnill, between l'ukokohe and Tuakau, on a charge of theft of a watch and clothing at Rangiriri. Accused, was brought before the Court at Pukekoho this morning and was remanded to appear at liuntly. ft is understood that accused has to answer another charge of theft at shannon.
Jhe management of the Lyceum Picture Company wish to inform the public that the picture performance for to-night has been postponed until to morrow night, owing to tbe death of Mr McCovern and out of respect to Mrs McCovern and faint'y. —Advt.
