The usual general meeting of the above league was held on Monday evening. Mr M. Foley occupied the chair. Word wai received from the Railway saying that the request for an overhead travelling gear to lift heavy weights from trucks had been favourably considered and the work would be done when funds were available. This reply was considered unsatisfactory, as the matter was urgent. It was decided to ask for more explicit information re the funds referred to, as the amount involved waa only small. Reference was again mfcde to the promised infant side school, and a deputation was appointed to wait upon the Education Board next week to urge tbe immediate establishment of the school as promised. The League are communicating with the secretary of the Reform League re joint action in entertaining Ministers at the post office opening ceremony in March. During the evening Messrs McPheraon and L. L. Allan were elected members. Thiß brings the total membership up to 30.

Important matters, such as education, Catholic immigration, and Catholic literature were fully dealt with in detail by the lecturer. At the conclusion of his address, which was listened to with much interest by those present. Mr H. McGuire moved a hearty vote of thankß to Mr Girling-Butcher. This was seconded by Mr Tbos. After the meeting Mr GirlingButcher met the members of the Parish Committee, who were emphatic in their desire to leave no stone unturned until every Catholic in the parish is enrolled as a member of the Federation.
