To start the ball rolling it was arranged by the school committee to hold a concert and dance in aid of funds towards the hall on Friday evening last. The concert ard dance took place, and wap a great success. Several ladies and gentlemen, mostly from Waiuku, arranged a very nice programme lasting nearly three hcurs. The items were well rendered, each performer receiving a hearty encore.
At the close of the concert Mr Gleeson expressed thanks on behalf of the committee.
Mr F. Parker's mail coach brought 18 or 20 people from Waiuku. The dancing started shortly after 11 p.m., with a very crowded room. Music was supplied, mostly piano and violin, by Mr and Mrs McNamara, and was much-liked by the dancers
The thanks of the committee arc due to the ladies for the serving up of suppar. A little over seven pounds was taken at the doors. The expenses were on the heavy side, leaving a rather small balance.
