SCHOOL COMMITTEE,

The monthly meeting of the

Waiuku School Committee was held on Saturday, when Ue following members were present:—Messrs C. T. Barriball (chairman), Honey, Williams and the secretary (Mr C. H. Gteenhead). The inspector's report udoo the five schools under this committee's control was read and considered highly sa i factory, i ems fr. m the several schocls reading as follows: Waiuku. —J. Harris headmaster, total on roll 114. This echo.l id well managed and well taught, the teaching throughout all ihss s being enargetic, intelligent and thorough. The pupils are all makiog good progress and the discipline, order and tone ate very good. Aka Aka.—R. L. Hoey headmaster; 57 on roll. This school is under efficient management, the teaching being careful, earnest and intelligent, writing, composition and j arithmetic being specially gcod.

Brookside.—Miss Jessie B. Cook mistress. On roll 28. This school is well managed and well taught, the teaching being intelligent and sympathetic. AH pupils are in advance of their work, the scholars being attentive, industrious and well behaved.

Waitangi. Miss B. Black mistress. On roll 25. This school is in a very ?atsfactory state of efficiency. The teaching is based on intelligent methods and is zealously appii'.d. The pupils are orderly, attentive and industrious. The school room is clean and sweet, wbile a well kept garden is an attractive feature of exterior environment.

Kariaotahi.—Miss Tisdall mistress. The order, discipline, manners and general behaviour are good. The head-teacher's repott upon his staff at Waiuku central was read and considered satisfactory. A letter was received from Mrs Davis, giving up the cleaning of the central school from January, 1914. Accounts amounting to £ll 5s were passed for payment.
