SCHOOL PICNIC,
The Puni school picnic was held in Mr JR. .Pilkington's orchard on Friday, 19th. Races for all ages of
boys and girls were held. Mrs W. Wright won the race for married ladies, the prize for which was presented by Air Mills, of Pukckohe. Mrs J. London and Mrs E. Adams tied for Mr A. 0. Woollett's prize; after running off three times it was decided to helve the prize. Miss Preston won the single lady's belt. The potato race on horseback was won by E. Luces, nach child was presented with a buck suitable to their age. Special prizes were awarded to Clarence Dazsley, Willie Psype and Iris Fulton for good attendance. The chairman of the committee, on behalf of the chili ren, presented to Mr Johts a moustache cup, shaving pot, brush and a ciks of soap, and to Mis Chalmers a box of handkerchiefs. the chairman expressed the esteem in which Mr Johns and Misa Chalmers are held by the children. Mr Johns suitably responded. Mr J. Landon and Mr Preece allotted the prizes, Mr Black acted as handicapper, Mr Fulron as starter and Mr Parkinson as judge. The ladies .worked hard to fill the "intake capacity" of the children, and an enjoyable day wad spent. Mr and Mrs Pilkington kindly gave the use of the house for the committee. Mr .praham provided bread and Mr James Kouiaton gave a ham. Mr Perkins and others also gave, and cheers were given for all the kind assistance. Mrs Payne managed the refreshment department.
