BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS.
♦ Proposed Political Action. At the last meeting of the Auckland Central Committee of the Bible-in-State-Schools League reports were brought in showing that concerted action is being taken by the authorities of the Anglican, Metbddist and Presbyterian churches and the Salvation Army with a view to the general observance throughout the province of Sunday, December 14th, as Bible-in-State-Schools Day. On this day sermons will be preached and collections takdn up in the churches participating in the movement. In view of the .fact that sume of the members of Parliament for the Auckland province are not prepared to allow the Bible-in-bchools question to be settled by a referendum, the committee unanimously passed the follow ing resolution : "That this Central Committee, representing the 31,000 members cf the league in the Auckland province, pledges itself to support as far as possible the Dominion executive, in any action that is thought advisable to take in the interests of the league, to see that candidates are returned tj Parliament who are prepared to see that the will of the people in this important matter is carried into effect."
