BAND OF HOPE,

The final meeting of the Band of Hope for the present Eesaion took place in the t'arish hall on Wednesday evening, Mr S. Evans in the chair.

The lirat pa it of the programme consisted of a tea party for the children, of whom about 130 sat down and enjoyed themselves.

At the entertainment which fol lowed the hall was filled to overflow ir g.

The Ilev. William Heckett and Adjutant Holmes addressed the meeting, and a number of recitations and muiscal items were rendered by the children. A party of six girls from the Otahul.u Hard of Hope gave several items, among which was an interesting dialogue rendered in an excellent manner.

Votes cf thanks to the otlicers, to the ladies who had rendered assistance, and to Mr Holme?, proposed by Mr Phillips, seconded by Mr G. D. Smith, brought a most successful meeting to a clow.
