WAIUKU. PARISH HALT, DEBT. The bazaar htld in aid of the remaining debt on tha Parish hall, and which lstcd three days, terminated on Saturday night, when there was a crowded attendance. The noble band of ladies who have befn working so ene getically for some six months past are to be congratulated on their efforts. The total takings amounted to over £162. The Rev. C. A. Vaughan and wife laboured incessantly towards miking it a success, and tl:ey deserve gieat praise. Mr da JVicntalk kindly officiated as auctioneer at the cicsa cf the bszaar. MUTUAL IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY. Tne Mutual Improvement Soci.ty met on Monday evening in tha Parish hall, Mr W. S. McCorncll, president, in the chair. There was a faix a tendarc?. The debate was on military training. Mr Charles West led the negative, and was fol lowed by Rev. R. Barr and Mr McConnell. The affirmative was opened by Mr H. O. Mellsop, followed by Mr King. After the speeches had been replied to, a vote was taken and the majority present were in favour of compulsory military training. The session for 2913 winds up by a social evening next Monday.
