TUAKAU SOUTH.
THE STRIKE. The main topic here, of course, is the strike, which is affecting this part as well as other places. The flaxmills are feeling the shortage of fuel and are u-ing firewood, while the housihold supplies are diminishing. FLAXMILLING. Messrs Frost Bros, started their flaxmill this week, plenty of labour being available.
WHITEBAIT SEAoON.
The whitebait season i 3 almost over, the fish only comitg in small quantities now. Messrs Frosts' factory is still prcservirg some. Their southern'factories report good catches, exceeding that caught locally by some tons, The strike is likely to affect them there soon as the supply of empty tins is drawn from Auckland, and stocks at factories were getting low. TENNIS. Toanis is in full swing here now and every Saturday finds the court well occupied,
