•*• i During his remarks at VVaiuku en Saturday at the Ratepayers' Association niaetinp, Mr H. E. R. L. ; Wily, of Mauku, quoted some extraordinary cases of absurd valuations on the unimproved values of properties in the Mauku district. One nate was in reepect to two proper- ; ties which were orly divided by a road. One property had been improved and the unimproved value was put down at £7 103 per acre; the other property, which had not been farmed, Btood at 10s per acre unimproved value. Two other sections adjoining each other: one was a very broken secti n and nowherj in comparison the value of the section adjoining, which was mostly a level en"; the foimer liaJ the unimproved v: luatiun put down at £2'-l an acre, and the latter at £5 an acre ; These, he said, were cases that the Kat'-payeia' Association cuul i step in and endeavour to rectify, for it was evident that the result at present showing was absurd.
