WHERE IS CAMERON TOWN ?
"We nothing extenuate, not set down aught in malice."
When a deputation was waiting upon the Fukekoha West Roaj at thtir meeting on Thursday, one old settler ast'ed ths question "Where is Cameron Town?" The name capped up cut of a discussion affecting the rateuayers of Fukekohe West road distrier, whose merging inti the b'rankhn County Council is affected by the absentee owners of Cameron Town. It appears that tome 40 years ago there was talk of the canal about which so much has since teen fceard, but to give an immediate link between Fatkington, on the Manukau harbour, and Cameron Town, on the Waikalo river, the Tramway roal was laid off. Cameron Town, therefore, ij at the end of the Tramway road on the Wsikato river. Its important to Pukekuhe road district is that it is a township of some 33 sections, of which or.ly ore owner is now knewn, and which consequently do not pay rates. Historically, an interesting incident in connection with this township which is o;ly a name is dsalt with in this issue on our lrant page.
