SUCCESSFUL BASKET SOCIAL. On Friday evening, June 6th, a basket socialjwas held in the hall, in aid of tha hall funds. Seventeen ladies brcught baskets, many of which were of very artistic design, and judging by the spirited bidding the buyers evidently expected them to look ai nice inside as they did cut. Miss Denize, of Otaua, had the honour of supplying the highest priced basket, which brought 335; from that they went down to 43, several going well over £l. Mr Campbell Mitchell conducted the auction, which realised about £l2, which considering lh3 stall attendance was very satisfactory.
