L. STEVENSON'S. Considerable improvements are being effected to Mr L. Stevenson's billiard-room and barber's shop, and for the coming winter a cosy room will be ready. Ihe old baie boards are giving way to a handsome oilcloth dado and a strong, serviceable paper. The woodwork is to he all repainted, and the hairdressing and shaving department le - modelled. Acetylene gas is supplied from the hotel adjoining, and a first-cluss light assured. A new cloth is to be put on the billiard table, making the establishment quite up-to-date. W. J. COLE. This is the only saddler's shop in Tuakau, and it is a good one both as regards the shop and th-2 contents, and also the workmanship. Mr Cole had a real solid training in the old school and 13 a special master at hi 3 trade. He has been in business in Tuakau fci the past ten years. A large assortment of |ortmanttaux, hand-bags and fibre cane cases, macfe by experts at this particular line are amongst thi inside stock, where also can he seen bridles and whips of .every description. Two fine show cases display a general assortment of fancy goods, including brushware, ladie/ hags, fancy stationery, basket ware, tennis raequ.ts, etc. which only reeds to be seen fo be appreciated, a r d if the Tuakau ladies only saw tne choice assortment of scissors they could not leave without buying one. A 12 light acetylene eas plant lights the shop and two large arc lames under the verandah These act as a public light as well, and are a grct assistance at this part of the street during the winter months.
