PUKEKOHE EAST CHURCH.
The report which appeared in the " limea" of li'.e proposed renovation of the old and historic Pukekohs East Church has pioved very profitable to the Church renovation fund. Yesterday the Editor of this paper received a letter from Mr J. D. Chalmers, of "Braidwood," Cilenbrook, which said: — "D.ar Sir,— I was very pleased to see by the 'limes' recently that steps were being taken to renovate the old Church at Pekekohe Ea-u. It is a building I "eel interested in, having been a pupil thera in botn Sunday and day school, <35 years ago, Mr J. Comrte and myreli' beirg old schoolmates for 3 years, The lanci the Choich ia erected on was given by my grandfather, Mr J. Deerness, and I think the Church waa erected by an unci?. I am enclosing a cheque for £1 towards the building fund. If you could kindly forward it to some one in authority there you would greatly oblige. Kind regards --Yours Sincerely, J. D. Chalmers."
It is satisfactory to be able tj report that toe comments have borne such good fr 'it and ws need hardly say that the commission entrusted to us by Mr Chalmers will be executed with pleasure.
