DRURY.
PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE. At a meeting of the Drury Progressive League, held on Saturday evening, the Chairman, Mr McCallam, reported that he had intsrviewed the Minister for Railways (Hop. Mr Herries) re railways, and the rjuestion of fares in particular, but while the Minister gave him a most favourable bearing, no definite promise was T.ade. After diacusa'on it wsb resolved to drdff and forward to the Minister a Ljsertorial urging that the eoncesJBfl asked fir by the various local be conceded. MMt was decided to write to the Manager of Railways
pointing out th? ntceasi y cf a verandah and pthere improvements at trie local railway station. Mr J. H. Brooks, hon. secretary to the League, tendered bis resignation, intimating that he had not the time at bia disposal to do justice to the position. Tne Chairman and several members spoke expressing appreciation of Mr Brooks' very valuably services to the League in the past, and hoppd that he would reconsider his decision and continue to hold the position.
