TUAKAU.
SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC. A large gathering assembled on Saturday at Mr Hunter's paddock, the occasion being the annual picnic of the Methodist Sunday School Ideal weather conditions prevailed and a most enjoyable time spent by ail present Tennis and other games were indulged in and the usual refreshments provided. PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE. A meeting of the abovj League was held on Monday evenin . It waa decided to form a deputation to meet the District Engineer (Eiilway Department) in reference to enlarging the space for accommodation of vehicles on the right hand side of the station, the earthwork taken away in so doing to be used to fill up the hole in tbe railway section adjacent to the station. The sub-committee appointed to define the proposed Town Board boundaries meet to-night. Members present were enquiring about the progress made towards taking over the old railway line between Tuakau and Buckland. It was decided to urge the Franklin I County Council to make further representation to the Hon. Minister of Railways in regard to same. It was pointed out that the scoria that ex-Ministers promised should not be removed from the old line was rapidly being removed. TENNIS BUILDING COMMITTEE It was decided by members of the above committee to organise a Working Bee on February Bth in connection with the proposed new courts. Fences have to be erected and wire netting put into position. Members want, if possible, to do some preparatory work to the ground, also. Expert assistance is being secured to draw up specifications for laying down first-class courtß. Tenders will then be called for.
