Samufl Marsden amongst the Maoris and also of the wonderful transformation of the South Sea islanders through the preaching of the Gospel. There was a large congregation. Large d umbers availed themselves of the beautiful weather on Boxing Dav by journeying to the West Coast, anil Waitangi Bay, whilst a good number went by launch to Waikato Heads. Others attended the cricket match played in the Becreation ground. Mr A. M. Barriball, lion, secretary of the recent Massey banquet, has written to Mr T. D. Beid conveying to hiin the thanks of the Beception Cominittea for the large share he took in contributing to the success of the reception. To eacl} of the young ladies who waited on the taWtT the committee presented a small souvenir in token of their appreciation. The balance of the mondy, it should be known, has been placed in the bank to be devoted to the next public, political, nonpart) - function.
