DRURY
School Committee. At tho last meeting of the Drury School Committee there were present: Messrs Glasson (chairman), Fielding, Blake, Adams and Brooks. The following letter was read from Mr G. George, director of technical education, in reply to the Committee's request fliat the children of the Drury school might attend the' Pukekohe manual trainiug school instead of Otahuhu:— " The reasonableness of your request was quite appreciated by the • Board, but for the present year it is impossible to make the change. This is a matter of staffing of the respective manual training schools at Otahuhu and Pukekohe. If tho Drury pupils attendod at Pukekohe this year, it would moan sending a special instructor to Pukekohe one day per week to tako the class, which is a very small one, and this at the present time it is not possible to arrange for, on account of the Pukekohe instructor's time being fully occupied, »s he also teaches at Devonport and Helensville manual training schools. Next year it is hoped that it . will be possible to make arrangements whereby tho Drury children may attend at Pukekohe."
The Drury school ground is now in a very satisfactory condition. The horse paddock is in good grass, well fenced, and free from weeds. The playground has been greatly improved, having been thoroughly drained with tiles. Swings and other means of amusement have been provided. The school garden, which has been lately fenced off by a very neat and substantial feuee, is very nice indeed.
