In the absence ofthe secretary (Mr B. Andrew) through illness, not much business was transacted at the last Chamber of Commerce meeting in Pukekohe. When the question of further advocating a reduction to 3d for connection with Auckland was under discussion Mr Perkins said that if all the local telephones were like bis the subscribers should apply for a new set. It was decided: " That the Minister for Railways be written to thanking him for his decision to erect a new station at Pukekohe, and expressing the hope that Mr Massey's recommendation would be carried out, namely, that the new station be erected as close to the old site as practicable."
