PAPAKURA.
Shooting Fatality. A shocking shooting accident took place at Papakura last week, the victim being a farmor named William John Cawkwell, The doceased, who was a single man, 40 years of age, had recently purchased a farm a few milos out of Papakura, and had been in occupation only a few days. He had not yet had time to become known in the district, and had only delivered one lot of milk to the factory. He was alone on the place, and it is surmisod that, after milking his cows early on Tuesday morning, he went with his gun aftor a hawk. About 8 a.m. a young man named McConochio, who was driving some cattle, came across his body lying on ono side of a wire fence, and a gun on the other. There wore evidences that the man had been shot through the head, and the body was horribly mutilated by pigs. The fatality, it is thought, was caused through the accidental explosion of the guu whilst getting the weapon through the fence. At the inquest the verdict was that deceased had accidentally shot himself.
