ONEWHERO.
A gathering was hold in the Central Hall on Friday evening, for tho j purpose of forming a branch of the Political Beforni League in the district. The attendance was very satisfactory considering the stuto of ;be weather. Tho Chaiiman, Mr 1). Moore, briefly addressed those present and called upon Mr \\ ily, Secretary of the Buckland branch, who ably explained the objects and aims of the League. After i"ianiluously deciding to form ii branch, members to tho number of forty were enrolled and it is expected that many more will join later Mr Moore was elected president, Messrs W Glasgow, T. Muir, F. Lawson, J. Logan and Mrs Moore vice-presidents, and Mr. 11. jtyer, secretary and treasurer. A committee of ladies and gentlemen was also elected. During the evenmg golos were well rem 1 ed by Miss Henderson and Mr A. E. Parsons and a duet by Miss Henderson and Mr t. Henderson. Mr Evonit told some very amusing tales, and humourous
recitations by Stubbs (of Auckland) weie luucb appreciated, Supper was provided by the ladies after which dancing was indulged in unt : l the early hours, music being provided by Messrs Clark and Liddle.
