Farms are again changing hands, Mr R. Sommerville having just sold his 80 acres to Mr J. Taylor, from Whangarei, at the satisfactory figvo of £45 per acre. Mr A. Matuschka, has sold 23 acres of his farm to Mr C. Schofield, of Buckland, for £O2 10s per acre. At Mr Sommervillo's sale on Friday excellent prices were obtained all tound, dairy cows selling exceptionally well, the average for 17 cows being £lO 6s. Seven of the above-mention-ed cows were bought 12 months ago for £42 and at Friday's sale realized £7l 10s —a handsome profit as each cow Would produce double her original price in butter-fat in the 12 months as weflThe Farmers' Union Social evenings, which are held in the Patumalioe Hall every mon'h, are proving very popular. These evenings are in charge of two different committeemen each month. The system has proved a very good one causing a friendly rivalry, each pair trying to out-do the last. This month Mr W. Howe and W. Sommei vil'e had charge, and on Friday evening over 50 members and friends were present. Progressive euchre was played till 10 o'clock when B uppor was handed round after which the tables were cleared away and a couple of hours dancing indulged in. At tho euchre party the ladios prr.e (a handsome glove box presented by Mr W. Russell, of Pukekohe) was won by Miss Howard with 10 points, Miss Boler securing a fancy little soldier for coming last. On the mens' side fou* tied for Ist. and in the play off Mr Pleydell was buccessful, Mr T. Bailey proving an easy booby winner with one point. Excellent music was supplied for the dauce by Mr J Hunter (violin) and Mr W. Pleydell (piano).
