BAND DANCE.
ENJOYABLE FUNCTION. ■ The Putaruru Town Hall was a scene of gaiety cn Thursday night, the occasion being a dance held under the auspices of the Putaruru Brass Band. The decorative scheme was not ambitious, but an exceedingly-effective sight was presented. Red and blue streamers were suspended from the centre of the hall to both walls, and balloons and Chinese lanterns added a touch of colour that enhanced the effect. Beautiful punga leaves found a place in the decorations, being used on the walls and stage, the latter being fronted with streamers and Chinese lanterns; There was a large attendance, people coming from as far afield as Matamata. Shalfoon’s orchestra supplied the music. Messrs. D. Hensliaw and V. McKenzie were efficient M.’s C. The supper was in keeping with the function.
The committee, with Mr. L. Ellis as secretary, and a large band of ■willing assistants, are to be congratulated on the success of the first dance, and future functions of a like nature will be looked forward to.
