LADIES’ GUILD.

ANNUAL MEETING. Great Progress Shown. The fourth apnual meeting of the Putaruru Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild took place at the Manse, Tirau, on Friday afternoon. The ladies were conveyed to Tirau by car, the Rev. W. T. Brabyn making- the arrangements for transport. Mrs. Coubrough, president of the j Tirau Guild, was present, and welcomed the Putaruru ladies, and congratulated them on the progress made. The report disclosed that the roll number stood at 16. Fourteen community sings had been held, and £ls had been received as a result of these functions. Thanks were due to the Rev. Brabyn, Mrs. Wheeler, Messrs. Tongs and G. Brown. Supper had been provided at the last four sings by the ladies, and was greatly appreciated. Mrs. Gibson, who had rendered excellent service to the Guild, tendered her resignation as secretary, owing to ill-health, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Gibson, the question of a successor being held over for a month. Mrs. Benton, who has been a tower of strength to the Giuld, asked to be relieved of her duties, and an ap- , preciative vote was accorded Mrs. Benton. The financial statement showed that the receipts amounted to £7l 13s 3d, the expenses being £6O 4s Bd, of which £4B 8s was given to the management committee of the church. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs. Gawith; vice-president, Mrs. Hutton.
