SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCERT.
SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The Methodist Church was crowded to the doors on Friday night, when an enjoyable and successful concert was given by the Sunday School children, assisted by the boys from the Salvation Army Home' and the Bible Class. The items revealed a high standard of excellence, speaking well for the natural abilities of the children and for the training given them by Mrs. Theo. Fitness, to whom the thanks of the officials are due.
The following programme was rendered : Chorus, children ; boat song, children ; recitation, “ The Pepper Box,” Alan Hooper ; chorus, “ Just Like Me,” primary children ; chorus, “ Singing from the Heart,” children ; recitation, Ida Lockyer ; chorus, Salvation Army boys ; dialogue, “ Mother’s Birthday Present,” Raymond Ashworth and Graham Alcorn ; recitation, “ At the Open Window,” Marie Richards ; double duet, Shelagh and Ina Fitness, Robert Edmeades and Raymond Ashworth ; action song, “ Round the Clock ” ; recitation, “ What the Birds Say,” Max Fitness ; chorus, Salvation Army boys ; recitation, Mabel Lockyer ; dialogue,.“ The Light in New Zealand,” Bible Class members. Rev. Ashworth, who presided, thanked chose present for their help, and stressed the work of the Sunday school, paying a tribute to the superintendent (Mr. Edmeades) and his staff. A collection realised £3 16s. The benediction brought the function to a close.
