FARMERS’ DANCE.
OUTSTANDING SUCCESS. j The second annual dance of the Farmers' Lnion and the Women’s Division, held iast Thursday evening, was an outstanding success. No eifort had been spared by the committee to ensure fust-class entertainment for the attending public, and all seemed to enjoy the evening thoroughly. The hall was tastefully decorated with an abundance of coloured streamers, greenery and Chinese lanterns, and while the work was marred to a certain extent by insufficient lighting the general eliect was good. The music supplied by the Rotorua Dixieland Oichestra was all that could be desired, while an excellent floor added the last necessary touch to satisfactory dancing conditions. A good supper was much appreciated. During the evening most of the dancers availed themselves of the opportunity of purchasing carnival caps, prizes being awarded to the lucky owners of caps bearing the winning numbers. The voung lady’s name unfortunately was not known, while Mr. Millner carried off the gentlemen’s prize. In the lucky spot waltz Miss Iremonger and Mr. Maloney were successful. The attendance fulfilled all expectations, people coming from as far
afield as Okoroire, while several Tokoroa people were present. The proceeds of the dance, which are to be divided equallv between the Putaruru branches of the Farmers’ Union and the Women’s Division, approached the sum of £ll.
