MORRINSVILLE BRANCH.
July Meeting.
A well-attended meeting of the Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held on Saturday evening, Mr. G. Pirrit presiding.
Considerable time was devoted to the report by the branch’s delegate, Mr. M. E. Barrowclough, of the proceedings of the Auckland provincial conference.
Mr. P. S. Philpott was • appointed assistant secretary and was congratulated on his public spiritedness in accepting the position. The secretary submitted a financial statement of the recent smoke concert. The subscriptions amounted to £22 15s and the cost was £2B 17s Bd, making a deficit of £6 2s Bd. The principal item of expenditure was £l4 for the Lyric Four, which provided the evening’s entertainment. Comment was made on the fact that the liquor bill was considerably lighter than at the previous function.
A vote of thanks to the committee in charge of the arrangements was passed. j
