There died recently the journalist who obtained one of the world’s greatest newspaper “ scoops.” Fred L. Boalt, who death is reported from Portland, Oregon, served with the United Press Association in London in 1910. At the time when King Edward V T I. was on his deathbed Boalt penetrated to the innermost corridors of Buckingham Palace by saying mysteriously to polite guards and char’her! airs. “ I am the U.P man.” Finally he met the King’s nhvsleinn and obtained a world “ scoop ” in the four words, “ The King is dying.”
