WAHAROA COMPLAINTS.

TO COUNTY COUNCIL. Footpaths, Roads and Li^ht. Supporting a complaint stated zo have emanated from the local hall trustees, the Waharoa Progress League, in a letter to the Matamata County Council, asked that attention be given to the roads and footpaths within the township area, and also asked for the provision of a further light.

The path specially referred to was from Stewart’s gtore to the public hall, while the conditions of Ward street were stated to be a complete disgrace, as residents- in that area had no approach to their properties. Water channels not being cleaned for years and pot-holes were also mentioned in a letter which asked for action to be taken.

Cr. Wilson explained that since the letter was written quite a lot of work had been gone on with. He was not sure where the light was wanted. There was more money being spent in the town than was got out of it in rates, and part of the area was in the Peria riding, which contributed nothing. Cr. Cox: What they need is a. special rating area, then they could go ahead with all their improvements. Cr. Moir (Peria) agreed with this

A voice: You had better not sav too much about that for you would lose the factory.

Cr. Wilson: Yes, the railway is the dividing line, I think.

Discussion then dropped, and the matter of erecting the light was left in the riding member’s hands with power to act.
