PUTARURU TOWN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. General Business. The June meeting of the Putaruru Town Board was held on Monday evening, there being present: Messrs. K. McDermott (vice-chairman, in the chair), A. E. Barr Brown, Bent, C. Neal, Yandle and Tomalin. The town clerk, Mr. Dulceson, was in attendance. Advertising Lands. The Lands and Survey Department (Auckland) advised the board that their request to have all lands opened up for selection in the Putaruru I district advertised in the Press would ijeceive due consideration. Received. . rsotfr Hospital Levy. The Waikato Hospital Board’s de- . mand for the first instalment of the levy due on June 15 for £34 12s 6d was received and passed for payment. * Accounts. When an account for plans was before the board, Mr. Barr Brown said it would appear to be like the request for the free use of the hall, endless, and he thought that these matters were finalised months ago, and that no further expense would be involved. It was decided to refer the account to the chairman (Mr. G. G. Griffiths) for verification. On the motion of Mr. Barr Brown it was decided to ask the county ouncil to furnish particulars of work done when they are rendering accounts in future. Sand Supplies. It has been the practice of late to obtain sand from Horahora, and it was the opinion of members that, if
possible, the sand should be obtained from a local pit (especially as the quality of the sand was said to be excellent). The matter was left in the hands of the vice-chairman (Mr. McDermott), Mr. Barr Brown and the clerk (Mr. Dukeson). Mr. Neal suggested that it would be a good thing to have the streets hat were grassed rolled if they could get the use of a roller cheaply. Dangerous Goods. Mr. A. E. Barr Brown referred to the charge for the storage of dangerous goods, stating it was now £5 as against £2 previously, and he questioned the benefit from the extra £3 payment.—The matter was left to the clerk (Mr. Dukeson) to look into. Main Street Footpath.
The chairman (Mr. McDermott) referred to the bad state of the footpath along one side of Main street, owing to the footpath being always under water in wet weather. Something should be done, and he suggested putting some shingle on it.
Mr. Yandle agreed to this course,
whilst Mr. Barr Brown referred to the fact that a request for somewhat similar treatment to another street had been turned down, and what was good for one was good enough for another.
The chairman pointed out that the work on this street was authorised.
Mr. Yandle gave it as his opinion that the work could be done at a small expense. It was decided to leave it to the vice-chairman • and Mr. Barr Brown to inspect, with power to act. Building Permits.
