A native witness under examination in ftm Nanier Police Court provoked unite a deal of amusement by some of his replies. Asked hew many people were present on a certain occasion, relative to the case which was r.’-oenedir"’ he promptly replied by “ TTs.” “ But wtom do ”ou mean by ‘us?’” asked the nuesticT,or. “ Just me and mvself,” replied the native- his earnest rmen wbep making this statement being indicative of the fact, that he was not attempting to be jocular. Needless to say, his remark was the signal for a roar of laughter from tv>e back of the court which almost drowned the usher’s stern “ Silence!”
