Rabbit Board. The May meeting of the Tokoroa Rabbit Board was held on Friday, there being present: Messrs. J. G. Hamilton (chairman), J. Campbell, E. Leslie, T. McLaughlin, D. CarrRollett and J. H. Morris. A discussion on the question of the control of noxious weeds by rabbit boards took place, and elicited the fact that the general opinion of members was that this should be so. Mr. Morris (the Government inspector) stated that something of the nature was contemplated by the department. On the suggestion of Mr. J. R. O. Lochhead, the secretary, it was decided to open a Post Office Savings Bank Account. The financial position disclosed a credit balance of £lB4 10s 9d, and accounts totalling £32 8s were passed for payment. The inspector’s report disclosed that the central portion of the district abutting on the afforestation area was clear ef rabbits. Mr. E. R. Leslie brought up the matter of the increase of hares in the northern end of the district, and pointed out that under the Act they had -no power to poison them. They are doing considerable damage. It was suggested that perhaps a hare drive could be arranged. Country Looking Well. The Tokoroa district is at present looking exceedingly well, and recently sown grass is coming away splendidly. The season from a dairying point of view has been good, as instanced by the increased cheese factory returns. Personal. Miss May Mitchell has been appointed postmistress at Tokoroa, race Miss Sloper, whose marriage took place recently.
