YOUTH SEVERELY INJURED.

ON HINUERA ROAD. Knocked Down by Car. A youth named Leslie Bezant sustained a severely fractured skull through being knocked down by a motor car, driven by Dr. W. C. Ring, of Auckland, on the Mata-mata-Hinuera road on Friday evening.

Bezant was walking into Matamata with two other youths, John A. Carter and Duncan McKennon, and a Hinuera farmer, L. W. Ayling. When nearing the racecourse they noticed a ear approaching with very bright headlights. The party had walked to the side of the road when Dr. Ring’s car came from behind and caught Bezant with its mudguard. The youth was swung round and his head hit a door of the car. Bezant was taken to the Matamata hospital for immediate treatment, and was then sent to tne Waikato hospital. Bezant was still unconscious when he was conveyed to the Waikato hospital on Saturday.
