Croquet.

PUTARURU CLUB. Annual Meeting. The Putaruru Croquet Club held their annual meeting on May 14, at the residence of Mrs. J. Francis. There was a fair attendance. The secretary reported that a very successful season had just closed. They had affiliated with the association and matches had been played with Matamata and Rotorua. By next season it was hoped that the lawns would be made larger and shelter erected. This was very necessary as they found it very difficult to accommodate visitors. Election of Officers. Mrs. Francis was re-elected president; Mrs. McGowan secretary; committee, Mesdames Raise, Spear, Allwood, Robinson and Campbell. During the proceedings Mrs. Palmer presented the club with two dozen cups and saucers for use in the pavilion. The gift was accepted with thanks.

On behalf of the members of the club the president presented Mrs. McGowan with a handsome bronze vase.
